Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the savings with Sensaru?

Every property is different (age, heating type, insulation, etc.), so no general statements can be made here. However, there are standard misconfigurations that can produce an additional consumption of up to 18 percent – without anyone noticing.

Using the following calculation, we will demonstrate the costs, for example, that the standardized setting of the flow temperature causes.

Hidden cost of supply temperature

The majority of older heating systems are typically set with a too high flow temperature of around 10 degrees.

  • The increased flow temperature by 10 degrees means - depending on the age of the heating system - an increased consumption of 4 to 18 percent.

  • In the example calculation, we assume an average saving of 11 percent.

Calculation of savings from practical experience

  • 4-person household

  • Annual gas consumption: 12000 kWh

  • Price per kWh: 13.6 cents

For which heating systems is the Sensaru system suitable?

Sensaru is suitable for gas and oil heating as well as for heat pump and pellet heating.

Where are the sensors manufactured?

All our sensors have been developed in Germany and are equipped with a battery that is also used in medical technology. This gives the sensors a maximum lifespan of up to 20 years.

Is the battery in the sensors replaceable?

No, the battery is not replaceable.

What are the individual measuring intervals & temperature ranges of the respective sensors?

Temperature / Measurement Interval:

15 minutes

Temperature range depending on sensor

-60 to +180 °C (external sensor)

 -10 to +85 °C (internal sensor)

Temperature range depending on sensor or meter readings / measurement interval:

my Magnet Impulse (transmission to the gateway every 15 minutes)

Pressing/Measuring interval:

1x per hour

Volume flows/ Measurement interval

15 minutes

potential-free contacts or digital voltage signals from 5-30 V DC reporting

Immediately (in network operation in the gateway) otherwise 15 minutes

Leakage/Measurement Interval:

2 minutes (network operation of the gateway) otherwise 15 minutes

Specific technical information about the respective sensors can be found in the shop.

What are the technical details for the gateway?

  • Radio Frequency: 868 MHz W-MBus/ EnOcean/ NFC

  • Surface-mount installation

  • NB-IoT internet connectivity on board

  • 10 years battery life (depending on transmission frequency)

  • Gateway to cloud transmission once daily

How will the data be transferred?

  • Radio frequency: 868 MHz W-MBus/ EnOcean/ NFC

  • Yes - 128 bit AES-GCM encrypted NIST recommendation for Top Secret

  • Open radio standards/ non-proprietary

What is the network coverage of NB-IoT in Germany?

The network coverage can be checked for indoor and outdoor areas using the following page of the German Telekom.

How are my data protected in the cloud?

Your data is hosted in a data center certified according to DIN ISO 27001 in Germany and is protected by 256 bit AES-GCM encryption as well as NIST recommendation for Top Secret. This ensures that your data is protected from unauthorized access, loss or damage.

What does a DIN ISO 27001 certified data center mean?

It is a data center that meets internationally recognized standards for information security. These standards include rules for the processing, storage, and transmission of data, as well as the protective measures taken by the data center to protect the data from unauthorized access, loss, or damage.

What does the use of 256 bit AES-GCM encryption mean?

AES-GCM encryption is a method for securely transmitting data over a network. It uses a 256-bit key to encrypt and decrypt the data. This means that the data is so strongly encrypted that it is almost impossible to crack.

What does the NIST recommendation mean for Top Secret?

NIST stands for National Institute of Standards and Technology, a U.S. agency that provides recommendations for information security. A recommendation for Top Secret means that the system or application that meets NIST recommendations is suitable for protecting data with a very high protection need. This includes, for example, secret government documents or data that would endanger people's lives if it fell into the wrong hands.

Is the cloud scalable?

Yes, the cloud is scalable. We use a highly scalable database (Cassandra) and the cloud is built in a microservices architecture. This allows us to flexibly adjust resources to current requirements, ensuring consistently high performance and availability.

Is the cloud designed for processing large amounts of data?

Yes, the cloud is capable of processing large amounts of data. By using a highly scalable database (Cassandra) and the microservice architecture, we can flexibly adapt the resources to the current requirements and thus ensure that the cloud is always capable of processing large amounts of data.

Can the measurement data be processed with different software?

Yes, it is possible to process the data with other software. We provide you with an open REST API that allows you to access your data and integrate it into other applications. You can find the API documentation at dev-doc.sensaru.com. Here you will also find instructions and examples on how to retrieve and process the data.

How is the sensor mounted?
